So the MIM comes out each day at 3:50 and show where the imbalances are. We aggregated the data, which we chart and then put in the Opening Print. I don't know of anyone else who does (or could do) this.
It just gives an idea of where the "big money" is flowing -- aka institutions. Is it flowing into or out of stocks? Is it a little or a lot?
It's not a perfect read or indicator (no such thing exists) but it gives one "piece to the puzzle" as they say.
Look at the recent action for instance. the last 5, 10 and 20 days have all been converging together. It's not a coincidence then that the SPX has seen its range shrink over the last two weeks. When the MIM roars, stocks tend to follow (and vice versa).
I just joined the group. Is there a write up on MIM . how to read it and what it says?
